Optical Responses of Nanostructured Materials

Course Description

The purpose of the lectures is to give an introduction to the electronic properties of ordinary bulk semiconductors and then to apply them to the optical study on new kinds of nanostructured materials through the changes of size-dependent electronic states and electron-phonon interactions, exciton-exciton interaction in confined systems.

Nonlinear optical responses and excited state coherence are also mentioned, together with the optical responses of light induced phase transition, etc. Light-assisted fabrication of surface nanostructures is also explained.
